They are looking for a Commercial Accountant to join our Berlin team . The role reports into our Finance Director based in London.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Looking after the three German GmbHs.
- Responsibility is an all-encompassing, total ownership basis reporting financial information up to the UK HQ
- Ownership of the building cost budget / forecast and working with the Head of operations to drive financial performance
- Supporting the events team to drive revenue and book revenue and costs in line with monthly trading
- Bookkeeping in Datev and ensuring monthly VAT returns are prepared and filed correctly in partnership with our external Tax Advisor
- Where required be very hands-on supporting the wider finance department as well as ad hoc requirements of the German HQ team
- All required reporting and submissions to regulatory bodies.
Key Tasks
- Managing budget / forecast for building related costs and events revenue.
- Preparation and filing of all VAT returns.
- Carrying out the month-end closing process from P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliation perspective.
- Processing payroll for all german based employees.
- Supporting the external tax advisor prepare the year end accounts.
- Reviewing the bookkeeping and processing payments when required.
You’d be the perfect fit for us, if you have:
- Fluent German & English.
- Bachelors degree in a Finance-related subject or equivalent (Qualified by experience).
- A Datev expert and able to independently file VAT returns monthly and work with an external tax advisor to file annual returns.
- Able to assist in the Statutory accounts production for GmbH under German GAAP.
- ACA, ACCA, Wirtschaftsprüfer or equivalent professional qualification with 1+ years post qualification experience or equivalent (Qualified by experience). Ideally this person has had potentially one commercial role post qualification.
- Audit experience within the property or in a small to medium company. (not essential).
- Attention to detail.
- Can-do attitude, prepared to deep dive into the detail, without losing sight of the strategic objectives of the company.
- Having the mindset to work with any available finance systems (Xero, Microsoft Officesuite, Mac). We expect you to have an influential voice in any future system implementations.
- Strong communication skills, empathy for our members, passion and drive.
- Maturity to be able to manage /process local payroll and support our local Head of Operations with HR matters.
