Role Description and Requirements
This is a full-time on-site role for an Orthopedic Surgeon with an interest in lower limbs. The role will involve providing orthopedic care, conducting surgeries (general trauma) and specifically focused on lower limb conditions- Knee arthroscopy (including knee arthroscopy, ACL recon, meniscus surgery etc), and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Candidate must be working in the past 12 months in a General Hospital for legal requirements.
Medicine and Orthopedics skills- general upper and lower limb trauma with special interest in lower limb including Arthroscopy (knee).
 
Patient Care:
  • Conduct thorough assessments and physical exams of patients with musculoskeletal issues.
  • Take medical histories and order diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, MRIs, CT scans).
  • Diagnose conditions like fractures, arthritis, joint pain, bone deformities, sports injuries.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans for patients, combining surgery, physical therapy, and medications.
  • Offer non-surgical treatments such as joint injections, medications, and physical therapy referrals.
 
Surgical Procedures:
  • Perform a variety of orthopedic surgeries, including joint replacement, arthroscopy, fracture repair, ligament reconstructions.
  • Use advanced surgical techniques to minimize complications and promote faster recovery.
  • Monitor patient recovery and modify treatment plans based on progress.
 
Patient Education and Counseling:
  • Educate patients about their conditions, treatment options, and post-surgical care.
  • Provide guidance on rehabilitation exercises, post-operative care, and lifestyle changes to promote recovery and prevent further injury.
  • Discuss risks and benefits of surgical and non-surgical treatment options.
 
Collaboration:
  • Work closely with physical therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Refer patients to specialists, such as rheumatologists or pain management experts, when needed.
 
Research and Continuing Education: 
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in orthopedic surgery, techniques, and technologies.
  • Engage in clinical research or trials to advance knowledge in the field and improve patient outcomes.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and seminars to enhance skills and knowledge.
 
Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain detailed patient records, including medical histories, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and quality assurance activities within the healthcare facility.
